Engine oil stored in a 20 liter tear-resistant plastic bag with a stopcock in a cardboard box. This ExxonMobil concept debuted on the Polish automotive market in 2019 during the Poznań Motor Show and was described as an innovation in the oil industry. Today, Mobil Boxx packaging can be found in more and more workshops that appreciate the practicality, convenience and environmental considerations of this solution.
Not every workshop is interested in buying oils in 208-liter drums, because in many cases this means excessive capital freezing and the need to maintain high inventories. It is also a matter of the workshop’s individual needs for engine oils and the ability to offer many products with different viscosity grades and approvals.
Therefore, 20-liter Mobil Boxx packaging is considered by workshops as an optimal solution and a strong alternative to traditional 1- and 4-liter packaging and drums. “Mobil Boxx gives you the ability to better control operating costs and better manage your inventory. You can also save on storage, which is especially important for small and medium-sized car services. In addition, disposal costs are lower, and the innovative packaging helps in the implementation of the sustainable development policy – says Marek Nowicki, Advisor Key Accounts Automotive from ExxonMobil.
Mobil Boxx contains 85% less plastic compared to a 20 liter traditional packaging and is 24% lighter. This is the result of using a damage-resistant bag with a tap and hiding it in a stable cardboard package. The smaller size and lower weight of the Mobil Boxx increases transport efficiency, which translates into the possibility of reducing CO2 emissions in the delivery.
Mobil Boxx is certainly one of the more interesting solutions that have been proposed to mechanics in recent years. The workshop also gains in appearance. The stand, cardboard packaging and pourers change the interior of the service to be more attractive to the customer. Legible product labeling minimizes the risk of mistakes when choosing the right oil for the engine.
Garages using the Mobil Boxx also praise the convenient and well-designed oil pick-up system, which solves the problem of leaks often associated with the use of engine oil from drums. Unlike drums, Mobil Boxx is much lighter and easier to carry. No additional pumping system required. Sealed packaging reduces the risk of oil contamination.
Mobil Boxx is ready to use in a few simple steps. Just put the cardboard box on the back wall and tear open the perforation next to the information OPEN HERE. We bend the perforated edges of the packaging to the outside and install the tap in the right place. Then we put the packaging on the rack or in another convenient place and we can focus on the oil service for customers.
“ExxonMobil’s innovative packaging also reduces the amount of waste generated in the workshop. After using the oil, the cardboard packaging is easy to fold and recycle. The empty plastic bag goes to oil waste. The volume of such waste is many times smaller than in the case of traditional packaging of the same capacity – adds the ExxonMobil specialist.
Currently, ExxonMobil’s range of engine oils available in Mobil Boxx packaging includes, among others: Mobil 1 FS 0W40, Mobil 1 ESP X2 0W20, Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W40, Mobil Super 3000 X1 F-FE 5W30 or Mobil Super 2000 X1 10W40. The offer is constantly expanded and adapted to the changing needs of garage customers.
